MSG 2- The Messenger | Movie Review

Ratings:
Times Of India : 1/5
Hindustan Times : NA
Rediff : NA

Story: MSG 2 - The Messenger is the baap of so-bad-its-good variety of films. You'll be guilty of clapping, hooting and rooting for Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan's superhuman stunts. All for an incessant two-hour long laugh session.

Review: I feel after having sat through MSG 2, might be more presumptuous even than most missionaries. Because who's to say aboriginal "Junglee" savages are any less civilised than a hirsute man who leaps off jeeps -- and onto elephants -- while dressed as Lady Gaga on a particularly technicolour day.

The theatre temperature is rising. Followers are chanting, "Dhan dhan satguru tera hi aasra," the slogan of Dera Sacha Sauda, a sect headed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. Meanwhile, some corrupt politicians, valorous army men and common social workers have got involved in the struggle to eliminate the barbaric 'adivasis' from the face of the earth. But, none of them is going to succeed because of one man's noble intention. By the way, that man is also the singer, editor, composer, writer and everything else of the film.

Katti Batti Movie Reviews : Total Waste of Time

Lead actors Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut try their darnedest, but let’s face it, Advani and the script never come close to giving them a chance.

She is a wealthy jet-setter who capriciously travels across Europe and moves in with her man on a whim, after which she spends an awful lot of time texting her ex.

This is literally just the beginning, as Katti Batti goes on to verbalise the obvious over and over again.

Also, dear filmmakers, we must here interject a plea: do not give Ranaut English words to say unless you direct her into saying them right.

We know she’s a terrific actress and have gotten used to the accent, but here, in a film where she’s supposed to be a bohemian highly-travelled rockstar-pixie, it really, really jars when she pronounces ‘dramatise’ as drummatyze.

Advani’s last film, Hero, released just a week ago, and I decried it for being an unnecessary, mediocre remake.

But that was a lunkheaded actioner and we’re kind of used to those films being daft.

Heartbreak, on the other hand, is rarely this synthetic, this thoughtless, this obvious.

Katti Batti just smells wrong -- and that may well be the most universal dealbreaker of all.

The Avengers : Age of Ultron | Reviews

Ratings: Rotten Tomatoes : 81%
               Metacritic : 72%
               IMDB - 8.6/10
               IBN Live - 3/5
               TOI - 4.5/5

Story:
When Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) jumpstarts a dormant peacekeeping program, things go terribly awry, forcing him, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the rest of the Avengers to reassemble. As the fate of Earth hangs in the balance, the team is put to the ultimate test as they battle Ultron (James Spader), a technological terror hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they encounter two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff.

Review:

Avengers: Age of Ultron is one heck of a superhero orgy as the mighty six - Iron Man (RDJ), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Capt America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) come face-to-face not only with the invincible Ultron, but various characters like Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany). With these numerous characters put together, you can't wait for the 'party to begin' and Whedon rewards your anticipation, right from the beginning and maintains it till the end. Fangasm guaranteed.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is no less than a spectacle (the opening scene in particular with the heroes in slowmo - midair as they pounce on their enemies) and you get exactly what you pay for. The unparalleled action is of epic proportions and makes the mammoth destruction shown in Man of Steel and the previous Avengers film pale in comparison.

However, unlike the previous film which was more massy, this densely plotted sequel may appeal to the geeks more. For those not acquainted with the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), getting the threads together of this layered film could be a task. So, brush up on your Marvel jargon before watching this one.

And finally the big question - Is Avengers: Age of Ultron better than The Avengers (2012)? It is definitely bigger in scale and there's a romance brewing, but you miss Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and his humour. If Avengers was a biryani, with all the flavours coming together seamlessly, Avengers: Age of Ultron is a desi thaali, full of scrumptious dishes, but a tad in excess. It's spectacular, yet can leave you exhausted.

Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sushant Singh, Tiger Shroff - actors who should work in Hollywood dance film's remake

Here we choose 5 most known Hollywood movies, and select some bollywood celebs who could replace those celebs in those movies.

We all are waiting for Remo D'souza's ABCD-2 to watch "Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Dhawan" hot and sizzlind dance chemistry on big screen in bollywood histiry. ABCD is the movie which gave us first taste of a dance movie in bollywood. We all are waiting for 19 June 2015 for ABCD-2 release to watch bollywood latest Basanti, Shraddha Kapoor's dance moves. This movie series remind me of hollywood movie series 'Step-up' which is a super hit also. So i had a thought in my mind if we replace some celebs from hollywood movies, which bolywood celeb could fit in that format.

1. Sushant Singh Rajput and Katrina Kaif :

Remember Sushant singh Rajput, when he came in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa!! I was not expected that much from him. I know that he is very good in acting, but i was unknown from his dance skills. He didn't showed up his dance talent in any movie yet. We all are waithing for that side of Shushant. May be my wish will fullfil soon. Now imagine him with our stunning Kamli, Sheila and Chameli - Katrina Kaif. Wouldn’t they rock together on screen. The two will be apt to essay Chayanne- Vanessa Williams’ role from Dance With Me and will scorch our screens.

2. Jacqueline Fernandez and Shahid Kapoor :

As we all saw Jacqueline Fernandez in Jumme Ki Raat song, she was super hot with her dance in kick movie. That was bollywood's top most seductive item number. She make my heart to skip heartbests And also Shahid Kapoor's dance in movie R..Rajkumar. He is very talented in his dance. He perform always well with his muscular body. He is not good acting but has his very impressive dancing techs.

3.Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone :

Hrithik Roshan is doing very well from starting like Ek Pal Ka jeena from Kaho Na Pyar Hai. And he is continuously doing with his excellent body in Bang-Bang song Tu Meri. And deeppika Padukone also has perfact body line with her abs in Dil Mera Hit-Hit with shaharukh Khan and in 'Lovely' song.

4. Footloose - Tiger Shroff :

New male celebrity in bollywood we can't forget to spot Tiger Shroff from Whistle Baja, a Tribute video to Michael Jackson, this man stops heartbeats of her female fans with his dance. Kevin Bacon's role from Footlose definetly suits on Tiger. He is the only one who can replace him.

5. Flashdance - Priyanka Chopra :

Most Sexy and hot actress and singer also, who will play Alex’s role from Flashdance is only Priyanka Chopra. I remember her sizzling item song from Ram-Leela, where she’s teasing her Ram, all dressed in white. PC moves like Alex.

Let us know which celebrity you want to rock, give your opinion in the comments section below >>>

Disney's ABCD 2 | Trailer | Varun Dhawan | Shraddha Kapoor | Prabhudheva

Actress Shraddha Kapoor, who has delivered some smashing and energetic dance forms in the recently released trailer of Remo D'Souza's dance-based film ABCD 2, says she had to undergo extensive rehearsals for the role.

For her, "the whole film has been a training period".

"This whole film has been a training period for me. I have undergone changes both physically and mentally," Shraddha said here Tuesday during the promotion of the film on the sets of dance reality TV show Dance India Dance Super Moms.

During the Any Body Can Dance 2 trailer, some kid asks Prabhudeva — that legend with a shapeshifting jelly spine — who he is. "Should I tell him… or show him?", asks Prabhudeva, playing the crowd expertly. "Show him!", they yell justifiably, following which Prabhudeva does a mid-air split and breaks out his moves, moves followed loyally by his vibrant young bunch of popping-and-locking enthusiasts.

The kids are heading to Las Vegas for a hip-hop dance competition, and they move with extraordinary, epileptic fluency, led earnestly by Varun Dhawan and Shradha Kapoor who appear to have slaved away to hit their marks just right. The stars aren’t as striking as some of the other kids, but all of that choreographed movement on that scale does look impressive, even though it’s hard to figure just how 3D would help.

Maybe Prabhudeva will fling himself at the screen an awful lot. (But is that a good thing?)

There is obviously a fair dose of melodrama even in the trailer — some "cheater, cheater" chants are thrown accusingly at our local team in Vegas; Dhawan, wearing what looks like half of a Mahabharat costume, touches Prabhudeva's feet and looks very sorry — but overall this is a blingy dance film, and to that end, it looks fun.

Shraddha looks great, Varun brings that sincerity we know he’s capable of — even when tearfully saying lines like "we dance to express, not to impress" — and overall Remo D’Souza’s film could well be an entertaining ride — if you’re into that sort of thing.

Kangana Ranaut's crazy dance in 'Banno' song

Kangana Ranaut is once again ready to impress everyone with her latest song “Banno” from her upcoming movie ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns‘.

The actress, who has become the ‘Queen’ of all hearts now, has always surprised her fans with something new. Be it her acting, her dance, live shows or at award functions, she has always stood out of the crowd.

The song begins with the Haryanvi girl Kusum (Kangana Ranaut) trying to bash up Manu (R Madhavan) and his friend on a busy road with a hockey stick. Later, we see love blossoming between the two.

Apart from the love angle, we see the leading lady’s crazy, yet appealing dance moves that we have been missing ever since we saw her in ”Sadi Gali” and “Jugni” in the first part of the film.

With all the craziness that she could do in this one, we have our doting lover Madhavan watching her with a smirk on his face.

On the other hand we see the London return Tanu walking in the streets of her home town and later with her ex-boyfriend Raja (Jimmy Shergill), who gave her a tough time in the prequel, on a bike.

With all this and much more happening in a span of almost 2 minutes, we are amazed by Kangana’s enthusiasm in this one and we bet no one can do it better.

Dharam Sankat Mein Movie Review

Cast: Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah and Annu Kapoor
Director: Fuwad Khan

Ratings: BookMyShow - 8.6/10
                IMDB - 8.7/10
                Bollywood Hungama - 3/5
                Koimoi - 2/5
                NDTV Movies - 1.5/5
                BollywoodLife - 1/5
                Timesofindia - 2.5/5

Story Line

Dharam Sankat Mein is about a Hindu man who goes through an identity crisis when he discovers he was adopted as a son in a Hindu family, but was actually born in a Muslim family. He thus sets out on a journey to find his real father.

Naseeruddin Shah rocks as MSG-style Baba and Paresh Rawal is brilliant

Dharam Sankat Mein is a nice surprise at the onset. Paresh Rawal’s Gujju character Dharam saunters along with his family to a session with a famous spiritual guru, Neel Anand Baba. He’s not entirely convinced of the Baba’s chamatkaar. Everything associated with the Baba is directly a throwback to his name – the attire is blue, the stage is blue, the hats that the devotees wear are also blue. Before taking his seat, Dharam stumbles on a pole and utters a prayer as a knee jerk reaction, following which people around him begin offering prayers to the pole.

Baba turns out to be a cartoonish over the top MSG-type rockstar who makes his grand entry on a motorcycle, as the devotees clap and cheer in awe and fireworks crackle in the backdrop. As a bonus, the Baba is played by Naseeruddin Shah, whose glorious, deliberate hamming is only matched by his caricaturish hairpiece and costume. Every word Shah's Baba utters is gospel to his crazed followers. It’s funny stuff, and a gentle damning of misguided faith and religious fanaticism that is so prevalent in the country.

Directed by Fuwad Khan and a remake of the 2010 British film The Infidel, Dharam Sankat Mein is a low key version of PK and a slightly high-concept companion piece to 2012’s OMG. The Hindu Dharam's life goes topsy turvy when he discovers that he is an adopted child and that he was born to a Muslim family. With the help of his Muslim lawyer and neighbour  Nawab (Anu Kapoor), Dharam tracks down his biological father, but before the two can meet, an imam insists Dharam learn a few Islamic customs. Hilarity ensues as Dharam puts on a kufi and tries to educate himself in the ways of Allah. It doesn’t help that on the other side, his Neel Anand Baba bhakt family is forcing him to join the cult.

As film buffs know well, one of the hardest thing to do in India cinema is to make any sort of religious joke in films. Dharam Sankat Mein had quite an uphill task of balancing comedy and the religious sentiments of its audience. It succeeds fairly well – the jokes are in good taste and the film presents the hypocrisy in blind belief, rather than faith per se. Both Hindu and Muslim customs, two polar opposite sides of the spectrum, are made fun of with equally measured, over-careful restraint. Gujarat’s ban on alcohol gets a subtle dig.

The censorship takes away the satirical bite of the film, rendering a remainder that is passably fun and intermittently hit or miss.

What works is the lead pair of actors. Shah is hilarious and Rawal’s performance manages to score both laughs and sympathy. What doesn’t work is the imagery. For some reason the film is dimly lit, with uninteresting production design, which is strange considering director Khan was a DOP before. The songs are terrible, but fortunately there are just two of them, if you exclude the ridiculous end credits music video featuring Sophie Chaudhury. There is also a grating, out of place and unnecessary melodramatic jaunt in the third act with a drunk Dharam.

Still, there are enough goodies in the film to negate the negatives. Even if the film doesn’t find its audience in the theater, like OMG, Dharam Sankat Mein should develop a cult following on the telly.

That is, of course, if the censor board doesn’t break into your house, place a black curtain on your TV screen and force you to do pradakshina around the nearest temple.

Reasons to watch Sushant Singh Rajput’s ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy'.

Director: Dibakar Banerjee

Cast: Sushant Singh Rajput, Anand Tiwari, Neeraj Kabi, Swastika Mukherjee, Divya Menon

Rating: 3.5 stars
      IMDB: 8.8/10
      Rediff: 2.5 stars

Story Line:

The Yashraj Films produced with filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee is all geared up to take over screens with film, ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!’, this Friday
(April 3). The film, starring Sushant Singh Rajput, is based on Bengali writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s fictional
character, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi. Byomkesh is an intelligent detective from Kolkata who solves many mysteries that
were unsolved by the police.Expectations are sky-high, especially from fans of the series. If you are still
unsure about watching, we lay five reasons before you that hopefully change your mind.

Here are some points of film Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, which makes this film in a watchlist:

1. Detective Byomkesh Bakshi is original. And the meticulously crafted stories are constructed on plots that retain their 'Bengaliness' to the core. The cultural context is so evidently created that one would get a significantly deep understanding of the Calcutta we have rarely seen on celluloid.

2. Ever since Sushant Singh Rajput made his Bollywood debut with Abhishek Kapoor’s ‘Kai Po Che’, Sushant has been named an a rising star. He was quite noteworthy in ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ and ‘PK’, where he played a small role. However, the actor who has so far been seen in contemporary roles, will be portrayed in a totally different avatar in the film and One of the most talented filmmakers in the industry, Dibakar Banerjee has proved himself time and again with films like ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’ and ‘Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye’, that went on to win National Awards. Having previously taken up social issues in his films, this is the first time that Banerjee will be doing an all out entertainer.

3. Unlike many Hollywood detective thrillers where the focus is primarily on systematic use of scientific tools and techniques and the approach is very organized, Byomkesh is unmistakably desi. Not that Byomkesh's attitude is not controlled or methodical. He is humble, unassuming, quick-witted crackerjack. But when one realizes that Byomkesh is trying his best to be the perfect private investigator in the pre independence era of 1930s, one instantly gets to imagine not just the turmoil-ridden period of the British Raj in India, but also the bare minimalistic infrastructural limitations that this politicized period was riddled with.  And so, Byomkesh uses his intelligence and adept skills to solve the cases.

4. Since ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!’ is a major whodunit film, the identity of the villain is still under wraps. And it would undoubtedly be delightful to watch the mystery unfold and reveal the baddie.Though the film is a based on the Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s fictional character, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, this is the first time that we actually get to visualize what the detective really was like. The film begins right at the origin, with the first case of Byomkesh.

5. The film follows the core structure of whodunit --- the chase, the red herrings, the slow cooked suspense leading up to a grand reveal. There’s a generous spray of blood too, that underlines just how violent those times were.  But deviating once again from formula, Dibakar’s exposition scene is only a gateway to the climax. While the surprise element is welcome, there seems to be a stretch there and a theatrical one too. And it doesn't entirely free your mind of questions either. After a stunning build-up, this is a mild let down.

But Dibakar keeps you guessing till the very end in this unabashedly noir Bengal pulp drama. And his leading man Sushant shows just why he was fit for the job. He gets the body language right and brings the right amount of boyish edge this amateur detective needs. He’s no superhero, he throws up at the sight of a rotten body, he withdraws into a shell when he realizes he has been made a fool of. The actor adequately brings out every shade of his character. He never sweeps you off your feet, he doesn't even mean to, it takes you a while to like him but he earns your trust and you are by his side throughout.

6. The detective spy thriller, based on the popular Bengali detective created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay, features Bollywood's Sushant Singh Rajput in lead. There are two kinds of audiences for this film --- those who know Byomkesh and those who don’t. Dibakar has a revelation for both. That’s one case neatly solved.
